The VULCAN-VULCAP Vulcaflex® OTR Tire Repair System offers the most advanced method of curing OTR section repairs on one system to the professional tire repair man. The system uses an outside flat airbag, an outside heatpad, an inside heatpad and an inflatable mandrel/airbag to accomplish distortion free repairs on radial, bias and low profile OTR tires. The mandrels are lightweight, durable and easy to position in the tire. The system adjusts perfectly to the contour of the tire for distortion-free repairs of radial, bias ply, low profile, wide base and skidder or tractor tires.
Ratchets provide maximum tensioning with minimum force. High test abrasion resistant webbing guarantee maximum strength.

Digital Temperature Read-Outs allow the operator to see both inside and outside heatpad temperatures at a glance. Thermocouples in the pads
automatically control temperatures ensuring simple, trouble free operation. Vulcaflex® Heatpads are generally more rugged and last longer than those made by others. The Vulcaflex® System is relatively light and compact. As a result it can easily be moved to various different locations to perform repairs. Operation is simple. Experienced tire repair people will produce excellent, lasting repairs.

The Vulcaflex® OTR Tire Repair System is also available with the Vulcatouch® PLC based Control System for ease of operation and maximum safety due to the programming and logic of the PLC. Many more features are offered with the Vulcatouch®.For certain applications, we offer special L-shaped Heatpads that conform to the shoulder of the tire to be repaired. proud to introduce the latest development in control technology for the curing
of repairs on OTR tires. This is a
PLC based Control System with many advanced safety features and data logging
capabilities. Reliable PLCs have
long been utilized in automobile engines, robots and production machinery.
Now VULCAN-VULCAP has
developed an easy to use control system using a reliable PLC.
This technology with a full colour touch screen, thus the name Vulcatouch®,
is custom programmed to perform and monitor your OTR repair vulcanizing cycle.

VULCAN-VULCAP now manufactures a full
range of Thermocouple Heatpads and Airbags for all Strap, Flexible, OTR and
Truck Tire Repair Systems. Our Heatpads are fully compatible with MONARCH,
NATIONAL or VULCAN systems. They are equipped with the
proper plugs for each system they are ordered for. These pads generally
are more rugged than pads manufactured by other companies and have a
reputation for outlasting others.

This is a large cylindrical Airbag constructed of heat resistant rubber core for OTR tire sizes 50/80-57 and up. VULCAN-VULCAP developed special techniques and molds to produce this very large Airbag. Due to the large air volume, this Airbag is being supplied with a triple wall high tensile heat resistant, pre-shrunk nylon cover to ensure safety and maximum service life.

TREAD LUG FILLER BAGS
A
new and easy Method to protect Heatpads when
curing Repairs in OTR Tires
Taking the time to correctly fill in the voids of an OTR tire will extend the
life of your Heatpad.
When the lug voids of the tread design are not filled in properly, the Heatpad
is distorted when pushed into the voids by the pressure of the Airbag.
The Heating Element inside the Heatpad is then damaged and may cause
the Heatpad to overheat. This can
result in a fire starting in the tire.
In the case of strap type curing systems, it can also damage the thermocouple
sensor wires.
Solutions
There are a few different ways in which to fill in the tread voids:
(1) Plaster of Paris - this is a good procedure to use but is very messy and time consuming.
(2) Aluminum foil - this is easy to use but very often not enough tin foil is used. The void looks like it has been filled but when air pressure is applied, the foil compresses into the tread void and the heatpad then becomes distorted.
(3) Other types of fillers - these are always messy.
The Best Solution
VULCAN-VULCAP’s
new Silica Sand filled Tread Lug Filler Bags
are the best alternative to the above.
· The Silica Sand is very fine and allows the sandbags to take the shape of the tread void.
· The Tread Lug Filler Bags come in sets of 20 bags in various sizes.
· We realize that this may not cover all the different size Lug Void Configurations, therefore additional bags can be made to customer specifications.
Please note:
Heatpads that fail because Tread Voids are not filled in properly are
not covered under Warranty as the sharp Tread Edges destroy the Heating
Elements!

Below are pictures of VULCAN-VULCAP Heatpads that were used and damaged beyond repair due to failure of using lug fillers. This damages the Heatpads unnecessarily and is not covered under warranty. It is very important to avoid this kind of costly mistake!

Vulcatherm® Thermocouple
Repair Unit
When a Thermocouple wire
is broken or damaged and not functioning properly, this repair unit will keep
you operating. It is put on top of
the Heatpad and plugged into the control unit instead of the original
Thermocouple Plug.
It will control the temperature of your Heatpad.
The unit is supplied with a 60” long Thermocouple wire.

Steps for the successful repair of an OTR Tire Injury with the VULCAN-VULCAP Vulcaflex® OTR Tire Repair System with Vulcatouch® Control

STEP 4. Outside Injury prepared for vulcanizing – Lugs have been filled to prevent damage to Outside Heatpad. Outside Heatpad is laid out. |

STEP 5. Applying Heatpad Paint to Heatpads to prevent Heatpads from sticking to repair during vulcanizing cure. |

STEP 6. Outside Airbag with Straps plus Flat Airbag prepared to be installed. |

Note: Tire is supported by lifting device to ensure that Outside Airbag can be inflated properly and does not bear the weight of the tire!! (Repairs can also be cured in the 3 or 9 o’clock position without a lifting device. However, tire must always be secured from falling over.) |

STEP 13. Inflate all (3) Airbags to approx 2-3 psi and check position of Heatpads and Airbags. If all is O.K., then inflate to 30 psi. |
|
|
|
|
|
STEP 14. Airlines and Heatpads including Thermocouple wires are connected to Vulcatouch® Control System and curing cycle is ready to be started. |
|
|
|
|
|
STEP 15. Curing/Vulcanizing Time is automatically calculated or entered manually and data is entered in data logging screen. |
|
|
|

STEP 16. All 3 Airbags are pressurized, all Heatpads are connected and working, 2 Auxilliary Thermocouples were imbedded in the repair to monitor curing temperature inside the Repair Patch. |
